A young Martin Cox and an even younger Nathan Bullas combined their shared experiences in foreign exchange. They rebelled against traditional, expensive marketing. Instead believing if they provided exceptional customer service, with a small team, their business would grow at reduced costs. Cost savings which could be passed on to their clients, to create more happy clients.
In 2003 Global Currency Exchange Network was born.
5 Years, 5 Offices
Being face to face with our clients was important to us. No infuriating automated phone menus for us. Just a friendly voice on the line…and we had to be where our clients were. By 2007 we had 5 offices across England, Spain, Portugal and UAE with a team of 14 to service them.
Nathan’s hard work paid off as the FCA payment services regulations came in to force and we were one of the first to be granted the licence. We also became regulated in Dubai with the DFSA and in Hong Kong as a Money Service Operator.
Happy 10th Birthday
We were growing up. Time to shorten our name to GCEN; new corporate colours and less of a mouthful to say!! GCEN brand was born.
The Big Smoke beckons
London was calling and we answered. Our growing corporate clients needed us to be where they were. Our Mayfair office was opened in 2012. Headed by Andrew Fundell who also became a Director in 2017.
Some Big Numbers
2015 saw us transfer over £1 billion in foreign currency for our clients worldwide. A year later we hit £2 billion and this growth has continued at this hefty pace.
And Here We Are…
Still growing with a team of 40 plus staff. We have seen huge areas of growth in foreign exchange and payments. As the tech has changed so have we. Our clients have 24 hour access to their online accounts, as well as a global presence with a local touch. Our team are still focused on creating happy clients.
Another New Office and More on The Horizon
In 2016 we sent Luke to Malta and he hasn’t come back yet. On the back of this success, other jurisdictions are now being explored.
